Biography

João Miguel Sales Caldeira Alves as completed his degree in University of Wolverhampton where he studied BAHons Music.

 

Moved by his desire to further his musical career, he attended some intensive Summer Courses in Musical Theatre and Drama from Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and Guildford School of Acting. Also gained grade 8 in Singing from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music of London.

 

Some of his musical career`s highlights to date as soloist, took place in Madeira Island with:

 

- Banda Militar da Madeira

- Banda Paroquial da Camacha

- Orquestra de Bandolins da Madeira

- Standard Group (Jazz and Rock`n Roll 70s)

 

 

 Along his path he has participated in a number of Amateur Festivals and Musical Theatre Productions:

 

- A voz na seda das Palavras

- Magic Flute

- O Rigoleto

- Carmen

- Opera "A Orquídea Branca"

- Les Miserables

- The Zepplin, Wolverhampton Opera 

 

Within the D.S.E.A.M (Direção de Serviços de Educação Artística e Multimédia)´s choirs (Infant and Youth Choirs, Ensemble of Regina Paccis) and M.A.D.S (Madeira Amateur Dramatic Society) productions.

 

As opportunities to participate in shows and concerts were coming up, his enthuiasm for music grew and today he feels, for sure, that this is the path he wants to persue for his life.

His singing and Piano skills have developed enormesly thanks to the tuition on his singing by  Joana Silva, on his piano by Jorge Reis and later on with Adler Pereira allowing him to play at restaurants and hotels, such as:

 

- Hotel Quintinha de São João (five star), Piano background

 

- Restaurant Scat Bar, with the Standard Group & Joves Band

 

- Restaurant Praia Formosa, Accomponing the Singer Sofia Petito and Singing with the Standard Group

 

- Restaurant Cá Te Espero, Piano background

 

 

Thanks to these experiences and amazing teachers, enabled João Alves to become aware of his challenges and to set goals for his musical future life.
